Why go on a retreat?

Unlike a holiday the difference is the intent behind it – one of personal growth.

To quote the words of Jiddu Krishnamurti, a famous spiritual leader:

“I think it is essential sometimes to go into retreat, to stop everything that you have been doing, to stop your beliefs and experiences completely and look at them anew, not keep on repeating like machines whether you believe or don’t believe. You would let fresh air into your minds.”

A retreat provides a peaceful, learning environment for you to deep dive into your journey of self – discovery in a safe place, with likeminded people and a bucket load of love from Jaquie and her team.

A word from Jaquie

My favourite place to spend time with people is on retreat.

I have spent more time and money on retreats than I dare to admit – truth be told, retreats are one of the first dates I plan in my schedule every year when planning my diary – they are a critical part of my growth and evolution.

“When I see leaders living a more conscious life everything around them lifts”

As an educator of emotional, social and spiritual intelligence, whole self-leadership, service mindset, with mindfulness at the heart of everything I teach – you can’t help but literally float away after a few days on retreat.

As an educator of emotional, social and spiritual intelligence, naturally, whole self-leadership (service mindset and mindfulness) is at the heart of everything I teach. You can’t help but float away after a few days on retreat.

Some of the MUST’s and traditions of our retreat programs:

ALWAYS incredible food, wine tastings, good coffee.

I have a catering background, and this is a MUST when we gather together. My team and I do a full reconnaissance and tasting of all foods to make sure it is up to our standard with fresh local produce and Chef prepared. The food is a large influencer of where we retreat.

In circles for teachings and discussions

Metaphorically speaking we need to lead conversations that matter, more from circles rather than boardrooms. A circle is a safe, solid, yet permeable space with an inside, an outside, and a focus that moves from person to person. You can see everyone.

There are no barriers in front of us, therefore people’s whole human qualities and expressions are seen and heard. Sitting in circles is the heart of where our learning, sharing and reflection takes place.

In lounge areas with open fires for conversations and connection.

Seriously, who doesn’t love a good open fire. Fire is a critical part of our connection, ceremony and sense of anchoring back as a group throughout the retreat. Expect a fire always.

Rest and relax in private guest rooms and a variety of peaceful settings.

There is always much down time and a focus on rest and relaxation. For this reason, we are very particular about the rooms, surrounds and activities to support you in allowing your nervous system to reorder and give you space and time to simply be.

All your accommodation on our retreats are private rooms – unless specified in the brochure.

In movement with gentle yoga (all levels), breathing exercises and stillness.

Regardless of your age, experience or level of flexibility movement and mindfulness activities are paramount to us shifting stuff, relaxing and nurturing.

I am a trained yoga and meditation teacher and have found myself often working alongside world leading spiritual mentors and healers.  Often there will additional facilitators on our retreats to bring you a wide variety of yoga, meditation and healing…. It’s always important to surround yourself with many teachers and experiences. We take good care of you in all these different formats and provide equipment.

Laughter, joy and some great music.

Oh, hell yeah!! One of my favourite things to do in preparing for retreat is creating the playlists!!

We have so much fun, there is always good vibes and quite frankly, new friends for life is often a common outcome.

Who comes along to our retreats?

Men and Women. Busy Leaders. Professionals from all industries. Parents. Entrepreneurs. Executives. Couples. Curious people. Good people. Smart people.

People who are committed to a more meaningful life.

Here is what they say about our retreats:

“A safe, secure space to be present and discover yourself and meet a diverse set of people with a shared purpose. Being grateful to self and exploring and expanding self.”

Sue

“Incredibly wisdom passed on by Jaquie, Steve & Taryn. So many tools for the future. Would highly recommend.”

Tim

“Not usually a fan of retreats, however, I am a convert. This weekend was the most empowering and enlightening experience with three professional facilitators who created a safe environment for everyone to share, for which we are all richer with a greater understanding of others and ourselves.”

Darryl

“I would sincerely recommend this experience to anyone. The Expand and Explore Retreat felt safe at all times, engaging, worthwhile and provided useful tools to use at home and work. If you want to learn to love ‘me’ just do it!”

Linda

“Jaq’s I am grateful for the previous experience your provided. Thank you for creating a loving and safe environment to enable expansion and beautiful connections. Thank you for the everlasting magic.”

Stav

“Jaquie, Steve & Taryn. Well where do I start? I wasn’t sure what to expect but I have left you with more wisdom and moments that I will be able to put in place to make me a better person for those that I love and come into contact. I can’t explain in words what this has meant for me.

The compassion, internal healing and the connections that I have received over the weekend is priceless.”
